Hey there! My name is Luke Willand. I'm a fourth-year student graduating in 2018). I am originally from rural Illinois near Starved Rock (don't worry if you have no idea what that is), and moved up to Chicago to attend Loyola University Chicago for both my M.A. in Medical Sciences (2013) and my B.S. in Biology (2012). I took two gap years, one for MAMS and another during application cycle before returning to Loyola, this time at Stritch in the fall of '14.

MORE

As someone who has gone through the application process TWICE and as a former MAMS student, I am sure I have at least a couple of tips for you regarding AMCAS, personal statements, university-specific applications, and the differences between a "good" application and a "great" one. As a human being I am also qualified for talking about life in general. So I have that going for me.

Here at Stritch I am involved in clinical research, student-run clinics, and other volunteer opportunities. Outside school I am always game for anything, well, outside. Ballgames, snowboarding trips, volleyball at North Avenue Beach, or even just dining al fresco. Vegging out on the couch is also great.

I am planning on specializing in General Surgery. No worries if you don't know what you want to do yet, we can talk about your interests and ideals of what "Medicine" means to you,
