Mentoring and Advising
Hi! My name is Laquita Brown and I am a fourth year medical student. I graduated from Northwestern University in 2011. I majored in Spanish Studies with a minor in Global Health. I completed a 2 year post-baccalaureate program at Washington University in St. Louis while doing research before entering medical school. I also worked as a Field Interviewer for the Survey Research Lab at The University of Illinois at Chicago.
I plan to practice in Family Medicine, with a fellowship in Obstetrics & Gynecology. In medical school, I am involved with the Student National Medical Association, the Physicians Vocation Program, as well as research with the Departments of Public Health Sciences and Obstetrics and Gynecology. I was also the Director of the Medical Spanish Program. Outside of medical school, I enjoy volunteering, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about applying to medical school, taking a gap year, working with a low GPA/MCAT score, and applying as an underrepresented student.
