Chicago, Illinois, United States
My name is Karolina Krawczyk, and I am a First Year Medical Student. I graduated from Loyola University Chicago in 2014. I majored in Biology and minored in Anthropology. After college, I took 3 years off before entering medical school. During this time, I did various community service/clinical (Anesthesia/Pain Management) & basic science (Neurology/ Neurocritical Care) research projects, worked full-time as a primary care medical scribe and got my Graduate Degree (MS Biotechnology) from Rush University Medical Center.
Although I am not yet certain what speciality I will pursue, I am leaning towards a specialty in primary care or neurology. I am strongly interested in community health, telemedicine, access to healthcare and working with the underserved and/or marginalized populations. Outside of medicine, I love to swim, play the piano, read, spend time outdoors and dogs (I own a Min Pin!). I am involved in several Stritch activities including but not limited to: Pediatric Interest Group, Family Medicine Interest Group, Internal Medicine Interest Group, ATC Health Coaching, Catholic Medical Student Association, Community Health Clinic, Medical Polish Teacher, American Medical Women's Association and Vascular Surgery clinical research. In terms of mentoring I am willing to help with any aspect of the application process. I may be most helpful to those taking some time off before med school.
