Mentoring
My name is Julie and I am a first-year medical student. I graduated from Cornell in Jan 2015. I majored in Biological Sciences, concentrated in Neuroscience, and minored in Global Health. After college I worked in an epigenetics research lab at Cornell and in Cardiovascular lab at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston before entering medical school.
I am not sure what I would like to specialize in yet, but I am interested in cardiology, plastic surgery, and oncology. At school, I am also a mentor in the PULSE, which is an organization of medical students that mentor gifted students at Proviso Township High School interested in medicine. I am the Organization of Students Representative of my M1 class, which means I am a representative of my class at AAMC regional and national conference. I am also involved with Healing Notes, which is a group of students that plays guitar and sings for patients in the pediatric unit of Loyola's Hospital. I have been playing guitar and singing for 14 years and in my free time I like to perform at Open Mic nights and jam with friends.
