Mentoring, Advising, Shadowing
My name is Nadeem El-Kouri and I am a first-year medical student. After graduating from the University of Florida with a B.S. in Materials Science & Engineering I worked for my hometown Medical Examiner's Office (a.k.a. the morgue) for a year as an Autopsy Technician. I then completed my M.S. in Medical Physiology here at Loyola. What's more is I worked as a consultant for an international diesel engine manufacturer for a year prior to matriculating to medical school.
I am interested in many different specialties so I'm still trying to keep an open mind about what residency I'll apply to in a couple of years. I'm involved in various student run organizations in medical school, including but not limited to the Business in Medicine student group, LUC Mentors, the AMA group, as well as being a co-founder of the Hospital Medicine Interest Group. I enjoy spending my time outside of school with my wonderful wife, our hyperactive 2 year old Australian Shepherd, and working out whenever I have a chance. Feel free to contact me if you have questions about applying to medical school, taking a gap year, working with a low GPA/MCAT score, etc.
