Hi! My name is Maggie Kistner and I am an M2 at Stritch. I attended University of Virginia, where I majored in biology and psychology, and played 4 years on the varsity soccer team. After college, I did Teach for America and taught science to 3rd-8th graders in a Chicago charter school for two years before medical school.

MORE

I am currently undecided on a future specialty and tend to change my mind by the day (especially depending on what field I happened to shadow most recently) - but so far I'm pretty interested in working with the pediatric population in some capacity. I am involved in several ongoing research projects with a colorectal surgeon, examining postsurgical outcomes in rectal cancer patients. Aside from research, I've also been involved in a high school mentoring program to help students from underrepresented backgrounds learn about and pursue different health care fields. Outside school, I play soccer in various rec leagues around the city, and enjoy going for runs and finding shows on Netflix to become obsessed with. Feel free to contact me with questions about taking a gap year, personal statements (I actually love reading, writing, and editing), or any questions about college athletics and how to use that to your advantage when applying!
