CPA who worked in public accounting for four years before transitioning to internal audit for public companies for another five years. I recently transitioned out of audit and into a financial operations role working on process improvements for our shared services function.
About My Career:
I started my career working as an external auditor with KPMG in Chicago where I worked for for four years, focusing on the manufacturing sector. In that time I obtained my CPA and worked my way up to a senior auditor working on primarily large public companies. I transitioned out of the public accounting realm and into Internal Audit, expanding my industry experience to the Real Estate sector. I served as the Senior Internal Audit at Jones Lang LaSalle for two year focusing on operational audits on a global scale designed to drive consistency and efficiency in operations across five continents.
I then decided to move back to the manufacturing industry and continued my career as an internal audit manager for USG Corporation. I worked in audit for about three years leading SOX controls testwork, focusing on controls rationalization and efficiency improvements. I transitioned out of internal audit to expand my expertise to the finance operations where I currently work in the finance shared services department, which focuses on driving efficiency and cost savings throughout the organization by focusing on process improvement.
Outside of my job, I have been involved with the Loyola graduates of the last decade (GOLD) young alumni board. The board is a volunteer alumni board with a purpose to maintain an ongoing relationship with graduates of the last decade and strengthen that relationship with the University. The board focuses attention on supporting the alumni community through social, professional development and service related activities.
I served as the chair of the volunteer committee as well as the President of the Board in 2014/2015. I also currently volunteer as a mentor with Tutor Chicago, which I have been doing since 2010.
